A frustrating tie! We played hard against Westie, a perennially tough contest, with some decisively long moments of possession, most notably in the first quarter. But we just were not able to score. Westie’s intensity, especially in the final 6 minutes of the game, urged us on, and thanks to some beautiful clears by goalie Juliet Amadeo ‘24 across those nail-biting minutes, our defense held off their energetic attack, flipping possession back to us. Great clears and carries from the backs out of the circle (Cornelia Streeter 23, captain and senior Coco De Vink, Edie Huffard ‘25) and subsequent effective passing on transition created breathtaking breakaways in the final minutes. Our momentum today was amplified on the forward line by offensive speed from Jo Louis ‘23 (especially on the breakaway) and Campbell Fealy ‘24, excellent stickwork and dodging from Casey Kittredge ‘25 — and, from the middies, really great ball-handling in explosive attacks from Haley Abraham ‘25 and unflagging support from captain and senior Kate Stenger. Meanwhile, Josephine Cramer ‘23 in the backfield dependably self-started, a force on defense and on the transition. Well played all around!
