An understandably disappointing day for us, gutted as we were not to have four of our five senior captains, all of whom play defense, and — only a few minutes into the game — doubly down after losing a defender, Josephine Cramer ‘24, to injury (super glad she is all right). Senior captain and middie Kate Stenger held down the fort for us and led with sure and steady strength on the field. We fought hard, hustled relentlessly back on defense, earned a few offensive corners after some excellent breakaways thanks to dexterous, accurate passing, but ultimately we just could not match and sustain Taft’s level and speed of play. In some ways, it felt like a match against a Varsity B team, and — in all the ways — this loss, albeit difficult to take, proved great experience for everyone. We played all 20 players in attendance: each player started a quarter, and each healthy player played in both halves. Great energy, great positivity, great fans! Thank you, families, for the extra support on a challenging day. (Happy to leave this one in the rear-view!) On to next Saturday…
