The Deerfield harriers traveled south along the beautiful Connecticut River to take on another flock of Pelicans, not to mention a stampede of wild Boars from Wallingford. The Doors nearly swept the four races, winning Varsity against Choate (20-35), but losing to the Loomis Varsity by a single point in a hair raising spectacle of a race (28-27). The JV squad proved their mettle by sweeping Choate (15-48) and defeating Loomis for the first time in recent memory (26-33). The day was filled with remarkable individual performances including Max Wang ‘25 storming to second place overall ahead of Loomis’ number one, Trey Souder ‘22 romping to seize the DA seven spot, Chas Arnold ‘25 and Jackson Collins ‘23 continuing their steady creep towards the 20 minute mark, and Giles Gordon ‘22 proving just how valuable a good breakfast can be for achieving race day potential. Also, Quinn Hampson ‘22 continued his undefeated streak, which (including the spring track season) has now extended to 10 wins. The harriers will return to the happy valley to continue their preparations for the New England championship. Next Saturday will feature a contest against the Lions Rampant of Phillips Exeter Academy on the home course.
