Deerfield began a long afternoon of squash—its annual tri-match against Phillips Andover and Choate—by narrowly losing to Andover. When the two schools met in January, an overpowering PA team would have shut out DA were it not for an illness-related forfeit. So today’s showing marked a vast improvement for a Deerfield squad that has made impressive gains over the course of the season. Though Liv Waterfall began her match with a loss, and Marnie Todd and Grace Honos both lost two games in a row, all three stayed mentally strong and kept focused on the next point and used that focus—along with relentless strong, deep shots—to pull out victories. But the most impressive performance of the match might have been put on by Lizzie Eudy, whose shot placement and court control was brilliant and she took three of her games into tiebreakers.
