On Saturday, the team suffered a big 1-6 loss to Andover. However, within the disappointing result were some wonderful highlights. Sophomore and squash newcomer Hunter Pulliam, who usually plays in the #10 or #11 spot, stepped way up to the #6 slot for the team on the day, and won against an extremely talented Andover opponent, one of just a few Deerfield victories for the day in either the varsity or JV matches! Overall, in being good sports and competing as intently as they could even when severely overmatched, the team showed their strong character. Near the top of the JV ladder, Christina Li ’20, stepping up to varsity for the day, along with junior Grace Russell and seniors Esme Benjamin and Janis Chen, all provided fantastic leadership for the rest of the group and improved what might have been a tough day otherwise.
