Deerfield came ready to play against a speedy Williston. Right off the bat, Deerfield put forth offensive energy and pressure, outshooting Williston in the first and third periods. Despite this, Williston was able to score early on in the first off a nice 2v1. Deerfield battled back, keeping up the pressure, until Christina Halloran ’19 was able to score on her own rebound in tight, digging the puck in. The second period began 1-1, and Deerfield was able to hold Williston off, despite many penalties, until three minutes remaining in the period where they scored off a shot from the point. Going into the third, the score was 2-1. The third period was arguably Deerfield’s best. They battled hard, had heart, and plenty of opportunities. Unfortunately, the Williston goalie had our number, and we weren’t able to put any of our chances away, even once pulling the goalie in the final 2 minutes. Though it wasn’t the result we wanted, Deerfield played one of our best games, moving the puck well and putting tons of pressure on a talented Williston team. A big shout out to the Crestas for the snack bags they put together for the ride home. We look forward to senior day, and our last game of 2020 on Saturday against Loomis!
