Despite having the better of the play and possession for the entirety of the game, and out-shooting our opponent 43-26, Deerfield fell to a good Westminster squad on the road on Wednesday afternoon. The Martlets jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, capitalizing on their few opportunities, but we fought our way back into the game little by little. Toward the end of the second period, Ellia Chiang ’21 converted an off-angle shot (assist to Keri Clougherty ’21), and then Christina Halloran ’20, who earned the hard hat, pulled us within one early in the third period. Unfortunately, we were not able to find the equalizer, but did put together three periods of very strong hockey. A big thank you to the Westminster coaching staff and Mrs. Howe for helping us with our equipment issues, and to the Mikesells for the sandwiches, chips, drinks, and cupcakes for the bus ride home. Next up is Berkshire on Saturday.
