Deerfield Girls Hockey took on Cushing at home on Wednesday afternoon, and, despite out-shooting the visitors 36-22, came away with a 2-1 loss. We did not play our best for the first two periods, and found ourselves in a 2-0 hole, but found our legs in the third and buzzed around the Cushing zone. Sydney Cresta ’20 scored our lone goal off of an assist from Christina Halloran ’20, and the line of Sara Robert ’22, Brianna Felice ’21 and Kailen Coelho ’20 generated at least a dozen good chances. Our depleted defense group played hard all game long, with Haley Sundstrom ’21 moving back mid-game to give us some relief, and Diana Bishopp ’23 (who earned the hard hat) stepping up to play her best game of the season. Emma Tennant ’21 made several brilliant saves to keep the game within reach when we were out of sorts. We will look to regroup, and hopefully get healthy, for Hotchkiss on Saturday.
