Hockey, Girls: Varsity loses to Andover

Event Details

Deerfield Girls Hockey traveled to Andover on Saturday to take on a fast and well-coached squad. We were slow out of the gates, and Andover kept us on our heels for much of the period, and scored early to take a 1-0 lead. However, Deerfield responded on the power play, when CC Deslauriers ’23 made a beautiful feed to Sydney Cresta ’20, who fired the puck home (Keri Clougherty ’21 earned the secondary assist). The second period was a different story, as the Big Green dominated the pace of play and possession, and we took a 2-1 lead when Ellia Chiang ’21 poked a puck in off of assists from Cresta and Jackson Kinsler ’22. Andover tied the score on a power play of their own, and the score remained tied at 2 until the final minutes of the third period, when Andover executed a beautiful drawn up play off of a face off, and then sealed the deal in the empty net. Sara Robert ’22 earned the hard hat for her strong overall play, and Emma Tennant ’21 was very good in goal. Thanks to the Clougherty family for the sandwiches, drinks, and snacks after the game!
