The boys JV hockey team traveled to Cardigan Mountain School on Wednesday to take on the hosting Cougars. The game started off well with Deerfield scoring first midway through the first period, but that would be the only lead of the afternoon for the Doors. Cardigan would score the next 4 goals on their way to a 7-2 victory. We’ll give Cardigan credit as they skated very well and took advantage of our miscues in the defensive zone. The Cardigan goalies were outstanding and kept denying our ability to climb back in the game. We’ve had a good run in January and we look forward to finishing the season strong. Yesterday’s game was a learning experience and signaled to the team that there can be no days off heading down the last part of our season if we want to be competitive with our opponents. Cardigan is a good team with some very skilled young players but we should have given them a much better game.
Enjoy the long weekend and let’s get back after it next week and play our best hockey of the season those last three weeks! We head to Loomis on Wednesday Feb. 12th We can’t wait!
