The boys JV hockey team traveled north to Gill, Ma. to take on NMH in their second meeting with them in the season. The first game played in early January saw NMH winning by a score of 4-2. Going into the game the Deerfield team knew they’d have to play well to com3 away with a win.
The game was a great back and forth contest with both teams getting their opportunities to score. Alex Leong was excellent all afternoon along with the NMH goalie. Today Alex earned his second shutout on the season with his stellar play allowing for his team to come away with a 1-0 win!
Bodie Fish scored the game’s only goal early in the third period to give his team a lead they would not give up. The play came from a loose puck scramble in front of the NMH goal and Bodie was in the right place at the right time to take care of business.
Hats off to NMH who never gave in and they kept coming back creating multiple opportunities. Alex Strait, Darien Chiang, Alex Judelson, Bobby Miele, and Ben Gisonni all played well in their roles in front of goaltender Leong.
The team played disciplined hockey and did a good job in our defensive zone all afternoon. This win reverses the 4-2 loss to NMH earlier in the season. The season wraps up on Saturday with a road game at Westminster at 1:00 p.m.
