The girls traveled to Northfield Mount Hermon without their player of the week, Aurelia Bolton ‘22. With only one player on the bench, the Big Green faced an improved team that handed Deerfield its first loss in December. Deerfield struggled to fill Bolton’s shoes on the defensive end in the early possessions; they quickly found themselves down 8 points in the first few minutes. Sydney Dinkins ‘22 stepped up and adjusted to the new role. Deerfield played well for the rest of the game with excellent point production from Arie Lewis-Pugh ‘22, and Dinkins, scoring 14 and 10 respectively. Despite good production and great defense from Sunshine Chen ’23 and Samantha Pehl ’23, the Big Green could only get as close as 4 points. They finished the game with a 31-24 loss, moving them to 2-7 on the season. They look to recuperate over the long winter weekend before heading back to Miss Porter’s for their final away game of the season on Wednesday, 12 February.
