On Wednesday, February 19th, the boys 3rds basketball team hosted NMH for a rematch, after losing in the first game of the season way back on December 11th. It was a tale of two halves for Deerfield – despite outscoring the visitors by 11 in the 2nd half, a 5-point 1st half doomed the home team to a 45-35 loss. NMH got off to a 10-0 lead before Deerfield was even able to get on the scoreboard with a couple of free throws. A late Moises Castillo ’23 basket finally gave Deerfield their first field goal of the 1st half, and a 26-5 deficit at the half. In the 2nd half, Deerfield steadily chipped away at the lead and had it down to 7 at one point, but was unable to get any closer. Tysean Price ’22 was the leading scorer once again, with 8 points, while Raheem Taylor ’20 had his best outing of the season, chipping in 7 points. The boys 3rds team will be back in action on February 22nd with a 2 pm home game in the Barn against archrival Choate Rosemary Hall.
