On Wednesday, February 12th, the boys 3rds basketball team traveled to Easthampton to face the Williston Northampton School, who came into the game with a 7-1 record. Led on offense by Tyler Simon ’22, who scored 20 points, and on defense by Osegie Osayimwen ‘23, the team came away with a hard-fought 49-44 win. With the win, Deerfield raised its record to 2-9 on the season. The 1st half was a low-scoring affair, with Deerfield only able to get off 12 shots, and Williston led by 4, 22-18 at the half. Deerfield quickly took the lead after the break and never trailed again. With about 2 minutes to go, the margin was 9 and the lead felt safe. After Williston hit consecutive 3-pointers, however, the lead was down to a precarious 3. Simon and George Fauver ’22 hit late free throws to ice the game and provide the final margin of 5. Zhexuan Li ’23 finished with 8 points, while Fauver, Tysean Price ’22, and Jack Chorske ’22 added 7 apiece. The boys 3rds team will be back in action on February 15th with a 2:30 home game against Suffield Academy.
