On Wednesday we played our first game back from Long Winter weekend, at home against Taft. We were a little sluggish for the first half playing okay on offense, but not really ever finding much intensity on the defensive half. We went into the halftime break up 28 to 22. After the break though, our defense picked up significantly and we were able to get ahead by 20 with about 10 minutes left in the game. Taft made a couple of runs, using the press late in the game to bring the game back to about 10 points but we never really relinquished control. A good effort by the team all in all. We had good contributions from a number of people. Darrell Dartey had his high scoring game of the season, scoring 12 with a couple of nice drives (don’t ask him about the free throw) and he was an important presence defensively. Tommy Leimkuhler also tossed in 12 and had four rebounds and a couple of assists. Oscar Patton hit some big threes and was big on the defensive boards hauling down seven rebounds. Crawford Rice, while not up to his usual scoring contributed with seven rebounds and played well defensively with three steals. We’re looking forward to getting back out on Saturday against Exeter, always a tough game.
