After a relatively light January of interscholastic match play, the DA girls traveled to a neutral location, Trinity College, for an afternoon of squash against Greenwich Academy on some of the top courts in the nation, including two all glass show courts. The girls played some of their best squash yet, with particular highlights including Sarah Stonestreet’s match against the GA #5 where she found success throughout the match by making her opponent hit low percentage shots from height, and Devon L’Esperance’s match against the GA #3, in which Devon pulled out an outstanding and fearless victory in 5 games. Captains Isabella Rolfe and Griffin Dewey held their own against GA’s top two players and were eventually outmaneuvered in the end by an untraditional service game, some heavy hitting to length, and exceptional execution on GA’s part. This match came at the perfect time of the season for Deerfield, and the girls are looking forward to a very busy and intense February.
