Deerfield Girls Hockey took on a strong St. Paul’s squad at home on Saturday afternoon. After a scoreless and back-and-forth first period, SPS got on the board first in the second, using their speed to generate several good chances. However, the Big Green responded later in the period, when Sydney Cresta ‘20 converted on passes from Kailen Coelho ‘20 and Jackson Kinsler ‘22. Emma Tennant ‘21 made several unbelievable saves during the second frame to keep the game knotted at one. We played well in the third, but found ourselves quickly in a hole when the visitors converted on some off-angle chances. Kinsler got one goal back off of a beautiful individual effort, but we ended up on the wrong end of a 4-2 game. Cresta earned the hard hat for strong play in all three zones. Many thanks to the Tennant family for the delicious spread of Canadian goodies after the game. It will be a quick turn around for the Big Green, as we take on Lawrenceville at home on Sunday morning.
