The Girls thirds basketball team traveled to Fairfield, Connecticut, to face Miss Porters on Saturday afternoon. In the first half, Deerfield couldn’t buy a bucket despite some excellent looks and good form. The girls found themselves down only 12-4 at the half as a result of their hustle on defense. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the girls felt the pressure and started to apply an aggressive full court press with Sunshine Chen and Arie Lewis-Pugh at the helm. Lewis-Pugh scored 10 of her game high 14 points in the final four minutes of the game. Deerfield found themselves down only two with 1 second remaining on the clock. Sunshine Chen found Aurelia Bolton who launched a deep 3-pointer than landed just shy of a game-winner. The Big Green lost 20-22 and falls to 2-5 on the season, but left the court heads high and energized. They play at home on Wednesday against Frontier on Wednesday, January 29th at 4:30pm.
