On Saturday, January 18th, the boys 3rds basketball team traveled south for a 1:30 game against Suffield Academy. The start time was changed from 3 to avoid the snowstorm that was forecast for the late afternoon. Deerfield got off to a great start, hitting their first six shots en route to a 13-5 lead, but it was short-lived as Suffield came back to eventually win the game 66-35. With the loss, the team drops to 1-4 on the season. Despite solid defense, Suffield shot over 50% from the field in the first half and led 42-21 at the half. Deerfield had a few runs in the second half, but was unable to get the lead below 18 points. While 6 players scored for Deerfield, only Tyler Simon ’22 was in double figures, netting 13 points on the afternoon. The boys 3rds team will be back at home in the Hale Gym against Cushing Academy on January 22nd for a 4:30 pm tipoff.
