On Saturday we traveled to Andover to take on another tough JV squad. We started off slow in the first half, struggling to match Andover’s size, discipline and skill. We gave up several second chance points as well but managed to return the favor with some put backs of our own and some timely 3-point shots to close the gap at halftime to three points, 26-29. The second half proved to be our worst of the year as we scored only 16 points and couldn’t find a way to keep Andover from matching their first half total and then some. Kiernan Keller provided our brightest performance taking on the defensive stopper role against Andover’s best player. Kiernan’s hustle and tenacity proved frustrating for their #55 and gave us a spark. Oscar Patton and Nikhil Barnes chipped in 8 and 10 points respectively while Peter Shea played tough on the boards. Andover was arguably the best team we’ve seen so far, but our guys were disappointed with the game we played. This will just add incentive to get better this week as we work through a tough set of games. Next week sees us playing three games, all against top competition. We’ll need to be at our best to compete with each of these teams.
