Thirds girls soccer dominated out on the South Division on Wednesday, scoring an astounding seven goals against NMH. The leaves may have begun turning, but the sun was still burning on this balmy fall day, and what a brilliant day it was to win a soccer game. Alex Gold and Valentina Williamson swiftly scored two goals to give Deerfield a solid lead by the end of the first half. Early on in the second half, Williamson scored again on an elegant penalty kick. That goal seemed to set Deerfield off on a streak, with Annie Ott scoring soon afterwards, followed by Gold’s second goal (assisted by Marnie Todd), a bullet-quick goal scored by Jenelvis Rodriguez, and one final goal from Todd in the last few minutes of play. NMH’s offense spent the game struggling to get past Deerfield’s brick-wall defenders, and Stella Kerwin Derrick let nothing past her in the net. This is 2-0 now for thirds girls soccer, and we’re hoping to continue the winning streak on Friday!
