On Saturday, September 28th, the boys junior B soccer team traveled to Suffield Academy in northern Connecticut for a 2:30 kickoff. The day was warm and windy; the gusts of wind required players and the referee to work together to secure the nets before kickoff, and the turf field made the ball move much more quickly than usual.
The first half did not see any scoring, and the wind was against Deerfield. In the third minute of the second half, George Darling ’22 scored off of a corner kick, and at the 24th minute, Matt Fierro ’22 scored a second goal, bringing Deerfield up to a 2-0 lead. With 9 and a half minutes remaining, however, Suffield managed a goal, but Deerfield held them off for a 2-1 victory. Deerfield is now 2-0 and looks forward to its next game on Friday against the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter School (PVPA).
