Deerfield traveled to Pomfret on Wednesday to play the second game of their 2019 season. The first half was played primarily in our offensive end, and Deerfield was able to capitalize both on several crosses from the endline and creative plays in the circle. Midfielders, Maddy Zavalick ’22, Hannah Roche ’21, and Muffy Mazambini ’20 supported the offensive line, and continued to push the ball into our offensive circle. Before the half ended, three balls had found the back of Pomfret’s net. Goals were scored by Sydney Cresta ’20, and Roche (2). Pomfret rallied at the half, and presented a bigger challenge to our team during the second half of the game. However, they were not able to keep our offense at bay for long. After communication increased, Deerfield was able to strike again. At 45 minutes, Reagan Hickey ’20 found the corner of the net. She scored twice more before the half was over. Deerfield finished the game on top, 6 – 0.
