We returned to Pomfret, Connecticut on Wednesday to play Milton Academy on the road. A result of a couple of nagging injuries and a cold going around campus, our roster was smaller for this contest than usual. However, the girls on the field recognized their responsibility to play for one another and were able to challenge their opponent and gain the “W” on the day. We had the chance to practice several new corner plays and capitalize on a couple of them. Grace Dumond ’22 scored first for Deerfield from the top of the circle early in the first half. Deerfield lead for about ten minutes before Milton responded with a goal of their own at 12:27 minutes into the game. Regaining their momentum, Deerfield rallied back a few minutes later. Sydney Cresta ‘20 capitalized off a pass from Lucy Miquel ’20 and Deerfield regained the lead. During the second half, Cresta scored again quickly and increased the goal margin to 2. Milton was able to find the corner of our net once more however, and the final game score was left at 3-2.
We have our first home game on Saturday afternoon against Exeter.
