It was another dominating day as boys varsity defeated Westminster 7-0 at home on Wednesday afternoon.
At #1 doubles, Auersperg/Pathapati were no match for Mukhanetkulov/Ekholm and cruised to victory 8-1. Ji/Bronckers remain perfect on the season at #3 having defeated Wilson/Lee 8-2. Sarachek/Adrian Yao had a rematch at #2 against Na/McCargo who they met at the Kingswood Oxford tournament back in April. They won a tight match that day but on Wednesday were more dominant winning 8-4.
In singles, Deerfield never lost a set en route to sweeping all six matches, and only one set went past a score of 6-2. The boys were consistent, focused, and mentally tough. Making his 2019 debut due to an injury, senior and captain Cosmo Hunt was the first to finish on court #6, beating Nate Chaves 6-0, 6-0. Adrian Yao at #5 continued his solid play winning 6-0, 6-1. Achille Sarachek at #3 also won his match against Carl Ekholm by a score of 6-0, 6-1. At #4, Eli Ji defeated Grant McCargo 6-2, 6-1. #1 Alfi Auersperg had one of his best serving days of the season and beat Azat Mukhanetkulov 6-0, 6-2. In the toughest match of the day, #2 Deepak Pathapati won a tight first set 7-5 before cruising to victory 6-2 in the second set.
This win brings the team to 6-2 overall. Next the boys will travel to Choate on Saturday for a 4pm contest.
