On Saturday, May 18, girls’ rowing made their way down to Connecticut for Choate day. Racing started with G2, who kicked things off right by taking charge immediately and leading wire to wire–even with some pressure late in the race—to upset higher-ranked Choate and Taft. Next was another strong showing from G1, who also led start to finish and is showing good progress in the run-up to championship season. G3 then rowed a solid race to finish as ranked in third; the crew put a scare into second-place Taft late in the race but just came up short. Our racing concluded with a great showing from G4, who made a statement early by running with Choate’s top-seeded crew, even nudging out ahead of them at times in the middle of the race. They ultimately couldn’t hang on for the win but in the fight, they were able to pull out an upset victory over Taft, whom they had raced twice but not yet beaten this year. Overall, the team enjoyed a successful Choate Day and is continuing to pick up speed; we’re moving in the right direction and have great momentum coming into New England’s this upcoming weekend. Go Big Green!
