On a spectacular New England day and in front of visiting parents up for Spring Family Weekend 2019, the Deerfield boys JV lacrosse team went up against a strong squad from Avon Old Farms School. The teams battled back and forth for the first quarter of play and then Deerfield pulled away for a 4-1 lead at halftime. In the second half, Avon took advantage of many “extra man” opportunities as DA found itself with a lot of players in and out of the penalty box. In the end, Deerfield walked away with a 7-5 victory lead by Senior Co-Captain Will Dale who scored 4 goals during the afternoon contest. Other players who found the net were Eamon Doheny, Derek Zhang and Keith Davenport. The “man down” unit played tough all day and a lot of credit goes to Ollie Pink, Billy Kitchel, Jack Lund, Elliot Flagg, Eamon Doheny, Matt Fierro, Francis Gannon, John O’Loughlin and between the pipes Will Savage. Luke Terry was again very strong at the face-off position for DA, enabling them to control the ball on offensive with his victories at the “x”. Deerfield has it’s final away game of the season on Wednesday as they travel to Salisbury School to take on the Crimson Knights.
