The DA ultimate team hosted a successful second mini-tournament. Each of three teams played two games starting at 11 a.m. and finishing up just before 4 p.m. Deerfield’s all-gender team won its first game against Longmeadow’s boys varsity team and we lost our second game to Frontier’s boys varsity team.
The day was breezy and cool, and our 17 players performed well on the north turf field. Adam Sussbauer was our top scorer for the first game, and Tyler Kelly was top scorer for the second. Adam and Sam Laur had great give-and-goes down the field, and Ian Gordon worked well with Gerry Alexandre. One of the highlights of the day, however, was a moment that showed Gerald Xu’s incredible situational awareness. In the midst of play, the disk bumped off a teammate and completely changed its trajectory. Gerald sprang into action and ended up with the disk in his hand. Amazing! Another highlight was a surprise Player Award from the Longmeadow team. Longmeadow’s Varsity team chose Raheme Taylor as the recipient of a sweet new specialty disk that served as the award. What a nice and well-deserved surprise!
