The Big Green played well against Williston Northampton yesterday. Every unit on the field executed their role with maturity, patience, and determination. Not only did they play hard; they played smart. It was a full-team, full-50 minute effort, and we were more proud of their performance in every corner of the field. Deerfield demonstrated particular strength in both shot placement and draw control work.
The Captains named Christina Halloran as the Play Tough Player of the Game. Christina offered great play throughout the midfield, but perhaps her most significant contribution came from her 7 draw control possessions on the circle.
On Saturday, The Big Green will take on Westminster School for the first annual LBC bowl game. Lindsay Bugbee Crosby was a beloved member of the Deerfield community before her family moved to Westminster and she became their Head Varsity Lacrosse coach. Lindsay passed away in July of 2018 after giving birth to her third child, and both of our communities continue to grieve her loss. Our programs have partnered in offering “Lax for Linds” lacrosse clinic for youth in the Deerfield and Simsbury communities. Additionally, the LBC bowl game will honor Lindsay’s love of great, passionate competition through sport. We look forward to honoring her with our best effort on Saturday.
