Deerfield pulled off a come behind victory over Andover yesterday on a cold and blustery afternoon. Andover did an impressive job possessing draw controls, and their goalkeeper came up with several outstanding saves. Deerfield’s strength on the day was our grit and resilience. It wasn’t our most skilled day, and we turned the ball over more than we’d like through both the midfield and attacking zones. Toward the end of the game, however, Deerfield played with heart and battled back from a two-goal deficit to not only tie the game but take the go-ahead goal with 1:30 remaining. A strong defensive Big Green stand gave us the ball in the last minute of play, and we were able to maintain possession through the final 60 seconds. It was an exciting finish to a close, steady contest. The Captains named Maddie Boger as the Play Tough player of the game for the confidence, reliability, and impact she continues to contribute toward our team’s defensive efforts.
A big thanks to our Parents for providing Gatorade, bars, pizza, oranges and snacks. The girls are grateful!
