The girls got their first 7-0 win of the season against Miss Porter’s on Wednesday. The squad headed down to Farmington unsure of their fate, as the game had been cancelled the past 5 years in a row due to weather and online research was not particularly telling! In the absence of usual #1 Daly Baker, Talbot von Stade stepped up and showed she has what it takes to compete with whoever comes her way, winning 3-0. Olivia Geraci had a 3-0 win at the #2 spot as well. Isabella Geraci’s opponent had to forfeit after two losses 11-4, 11-1, giving Deerfield a third point. Cameron Heard, up at #4, ground out a nice 3-1 victory, while Janis Chen, Victoria Waterfall, and Helen Mak at #5, #6, and #7 had nice 3-0 wins, too. Playing exhibition, Emma Johnson at #8 won her first game 12-10 but couldn’t quite hack it and dropped the next three 6-11, 8-11, 3-11. All in all, the team had a fun afternoon and had a good chance to knock the rust off before what promises to be an evenly matched contest with a strong Andover JV team on Saturday, and happily added their tenth victory to their undefeated season.
