Hockey, Girls: Junior Varsity ties Westminster

Event Details

On Wednesday, DA faced a strong Westminster JV team who had beaten the Green twice earlier this season down in Simsbury, CT.   The game went back-and-forth, with Juliet Perry providing the first goal of the game, and then Westminster replying with two of their own.  Kami Meier knocked the water bottle off the Westy goal with a top-shelf snipe to tie things up, only for Westminster to re-gain the lead in the latter part of the second period. Heading into the third period, DA had their work cut out for them.  With terrific energy, quick, selfless passing, and sheer desire, Deerfield tied the game when Maddie Boger swatted home a rebound from that tough, “dirty” area in front of the goal crease.  Hunter Keller kept the Martlets off the scoreboard with excellent saves and important cover-ups for whistles.  At the buzzer, the game ended 3-3.  Although both teams were eager for overtime, there simply wasn’t enough time for extra play due to the impending varsity contest.  Perhaps a tie was a good result for both teams?   The crowd was certainly treated to an exciting game.  Well done, Women of Winter!
