The boys JV hockey team continued their winning ways on Saturday with a 6-2 win over Williston. Lawrence Von Steuben would be the starting goalie this game and he played well throughout turning away several shots in the opening period. Steven Li would open the scoring on his first shift of the game with assists coming from Andy Han and Matt Gardner. A few shifts later that line of Steven Li, Andy Han, and Gabe Moos would strike again. This time it would be Andy Han scoring off a beautiful shot from the high slot. With a 2-0 lead Big Green thought this would be an easy afternoon, but Williston was just getting warmed up. They would answer next before the end of the period and then again to open the second period. The score was tied at 2 apiece and the pace was beginning to pick up! With three minutes left in that second period defenseman Alex Strait would score a highlight-reel goal carrying the puck from end to end and finding the back of the Williston net.
The third period was all Deerfield! Gabe Moos, Will Dale, and Will Lodge would all score as Deerfield played their best period of the day. The team pressured Williston all throughout the period and came away with the victory. The defensive group of Strait, MacKenzie, Gardner, and Judelson played solid throughout the afternoon. The line of Gabe Moos, Andy Han, and Steven Li, accounting for three goals, received the game puck for their contributions.
The team improves its record to 12-3-1 heading in to the last week of the season. Next up will be a much improved NMH team on Tuesday. Yesterday’s game was a great team effort by Big Green. There were many contributors as we rolled all four lines in the 6-2 win.
