The Boys JV Hockey team played host to Eaglebrook on Wednesday and were able to come away with a 3-2 OT win. Both teams played well and had excellent goaltending as a key part to their day. Colin Olson made several key stops for the Big Green helping to keep his team in the game all afternoon. The first two periods were in the books and the score was tied at 0-0. The third period was a wild affair. Deerfield would score first in this game when Will Dale scored a nifty goal with the assist going to Garrett Moe. Eaglebrook would score the equalizer midway through the period. The score would remain tied at one apiece until Aidan Philie would score his goal off a shot coming from line mate Matt Shea. Once again Eaglebrook stormed back and got the game-tying goal at the 4 minute mark remaining in the game. With only four seconds to play in regulation Garrett Moe was called for a cross-checking penalty and the team would begin the overtime period short-handed.
For the first three minutes of the overtime the play was pretty even. At the three minute mark the line of Andy Han, Gabe Moos, and Steven Li was sent out on the ice for an offensive zone faceoff. Hustle and grit pave the way for this group as Gabe Moos would stuff home a loose puck ending the game and sending the home team to the lockers with a well-earned victory. Once again, our third period was our best period and today we beat a good Eaglebrook team with good play down low in the offensive zone. The team improves their record to 11-3-1 and will prepare for a much-improved Williston team on Saturday.
