Girls Thirds Basketball headed into their final game against the MacDuffie School with a bit of trepidation, missing their two leading scorers due to injuries sustained in a previous game. The shuffling of responsibilities on the court and the lack of substitute players on the bench contributed to a slow start to the game; the Big Green were down 5-18 at the half. However, led by the consistent scoring of Arie Lewis-Pugh ’22 who ended the game with 11 points, DA mounted a comeback run. Sydney Dinkins ’22 contributed 6 points and Fernanda Ponce ’19, celebrating her final appearance on the hardwood, chipped in an additional 2 points as Deerfield outscored MacDuffie 14-6 in the second half, closing the lead to just 5 points by the final buzzer. Congratulations on a fabulous maiden season, girls!
