DA hosted Suffield Academy on Wednesday afternoon. DA scored a solid win against the SA Tigers. Jada Howard ’19 got us on the board first, quickly followed by a bucket from Kate Alonso ’19 and Vera Menafee ’20, who was just getting warmed up. Juliette Lowe ’21, Sami Dulam ’21 off a quick steal, Kiki Brainard ’22, and Michelle Zimmerman ’21 put in a basket each. Our defense held strong, holding Suffield to only two points for the duration of the first half which ended with a score of 26-2. Deerfield continued with strong team play, getting the ball in the paint in order to secure solid baskets from Vera, Ruby Chase ’21, Samara Cummings ’20, and Kiki. Michelle added two more baskets and Alexia Baker ’19 scored three baskets including one off an assist from Ruby. Vera went on an impressive shooting spree and dropped in six baskets during the final five minutes of the game, mostly off of full court breakaway layups. Suffield would score three more times in the second half. The game ended with a score of 44-10. Vera Menafee ’20 led all scorers with a season high 16 points. Burton (#10) was the leading scorer for Suffield Academy with 6 points. DA eagerly anticipates hosting Loomis Chaffee on Saturday!
