On February 16th, the boys 3rds basketball team traveled to Wallingford to take on archrival Choate Rosemary Hall. Despite being down by 12 with 6 minutes to go, the team managed to send the game into overtime and eventually win 52-46. With the win, the team evened its record up at 7-7 on the season with the chance to seal a winning season with one game remaining. The game got off to a slow start, with neither team gaining much of an advantage and the score was tied at 19 at half-time. Both teams played better in the 2nd half, with CRH eventually building a double-digit lead. David Thomas ’20 led the charge, hitting several 3-pointers late, and finishing with 23 points. Deerfield had a chance to win in regulation, but failed to get off a shot on their final possession. The game was all Deerfield in the overtime period, as the lead got up to 9 before CRH hit a late 3-pointer to trim the final margin to 6. In addition to Thomas, Sultan Lawal ’21 and Dylan Bane ’20 chipped in 8 points apiece. The boys 3rds team will have their final game of the season on February 20th, at home against Loomis, looking to avenge a 1-point loss earlier in the season. Tip is 2:45 pm.
