Deerfield Girls Hockey opened the season against St. Mark’s at home on Saturday afternoon. Though the first period felt jittery and chaotic, we got on the board first when Christina Halloran ‘20 converted a beautiful feed from Sydney Cresta ‘20 (Jackson Kinsler ‘22 earned the secondary assist). Penalty trouble disrupted our rhythm throughout most of the game, but luckily Halloran, Ellia Chiang ‘21 and Keri Clougherty ‘21 were outstanding in every short handed situation. St. Mark’s was able to find the tying goal early in the third period, and despite creating a ton of pressure for the rest of the period and throughout overtime, we could not find the winning goal. Emma Tennant ‘21 was strong in goal in her first Deerfield start, and Chiang earned the hard hat for her tenacious and dynamic play all over the ice. Next up is Loomis on the road on Wednesday. Thank you to the Chiang family for the delicious feast after the game!
