The JV boys basketball team played their second game of this young season on Saturday, thoroughly dominating a plucky but young Westminster team. The game started out with three straight Deerfield baskets but Westminster responded with two nice three-point jump shots to tie it at 6. At that point, Deerfield really started to put on the pressure allowing only six more points for the rest of the half, and we went into the half up 30-12. The team kept up the pressure, maintaining a firm control of the game for much of the second half and we finished with nine of our 11 players in the scoring column. Peter Shea led all scorers with 10 points and Crawford Rice and Oscar Patton were close behind with nine points each. Most importantly, the team worked hard to keep improving through the game and everyone brought their best effort. The only unfortunate piece is that we don’t get to play again now until after the break.
