Soccer, Girls: Junior Varsity loses to Westminster

Event Details

The JV team travelled to Westminster today for a rematch. Due to traffic, the team had a short warm up, and struggled to “get off the bus” at the start of the game. Westy got on the board quickly in the first five with a header. Greer Anderson ‘22 made some great saves and Deerfield was able to tie it up with an awesome play by Kiki Brainard ‘22. Unfortunately,  on a clear, the hall ricocheted off a Westy shin guard and back into the net, leaving Westy up 2-1 at the half.

Deerfield had better energy in the second half, but wasn’t able to keep up with Westy’s chances to net. Greer made several point blank 1v0 saves, and Deerfield made some strong passes and plays in the midfield. Despite several great chances to net, DA was unable to capitalize on the opportunities. In the last 10 minutes, Westy was able to fire two more in, putting Deerfield down 4-1. Deerfield knows we have some things to work on before our game against Andover, but are feeling good about the team energy and positivity of today’s game. Thanks to the Wrights for the post game munchkins!
