On Saturday Deerfield traveled to St. Paul’s School in Concord, NH for a night game under the lights and in front of a loud parents’-weekend crowd. St. Paul’s came roaring out of the gates, scoring in the 2nd minute of play and doubling in the 30th minute. Both goals came off of high crosses from the right wing that caught the DA backline flat-footed and slow to react. Down by 2 at the half, DA halved the hosts’ lead in the 3rd minute of the second half when Skye Bacon ’20 rose high in the air to head home a Brendan Kish ’20 free kick from the right side of the box. DA fought hard for the remainder of the second half, but a late-game effort to add an additional forward by pulling a defender did not work as hoped, and SPS knocked in two more goals in the dying minutes.
Deerfield looks forward to a Wednesday-afternoon home game versus a newly-strong Westminster team.
