On October 4, the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Public Charter School co-ed varsity team hosted Deerfield Junior B Boys and Girls 3rds players in South Hadley for a historic, co-ed match. The sky was clear and the sun was shining; players and spectators alike enjoyed beautiful views of the mountains from PVPA’s field.
The historic match was, to our knowledge, the first co-ed soccer game played by Deerfield Academy soccer teams. In both the first and second half, Deerfield boys and girls put up good fight against PVPA, threatening PVPA’s goal several times, but failed to score. PVPA was held off thanks to Deerfield’s strong defense and the consistently solid goaltending of Jack Chorske ’22. DA Junior B Boys’ hopes that this collaboration with Girls 3rds will not be the last.
With a 0-0 tie against PVPA, DA Junior B Boys Soccer remains undefeated this season.
