On Wednesday, October 16, the Avon Old Farms Boys’ Fifths soccer welcomed Deerfield Academy Boys’ B soccer in Avon, CT for a 3:30 kick-off. The weather was chilly and the sky overcast. The first quarter saw Deerfield maintain possession of the ball. At the 22nd minute, Clark Louis ’22 scored on Avon, with an assist by Felix Rockefeller ’23, gaining DA a narrow lead.

During the second half, the overcast sky gave way to heavy rain. At the 18th minute a shot at goal led to a penalty kick by Deerfield’s Hugo Nutting ’22. The shot was powerful and on frame but saved by Avon’s goalkeeper, and Deerfield’s lead remained tight. Deerfield held off Avon for the rest of the second half, thanks to strong defense and solid goaltending by Alex Judelson ’22.
