Field Hockey: Varsity defeats Loomis

Event Details

Deerfield Field Hockey traveled south with several other Deerfield teams to play their Loomis opponents on Saturday afternoon.  They were greeted by sunny weather and mild temperatures, ideal October playing conditions.  Perennially, Loomis is a skilled and fit team, but Deerfield was up for the challenge.  DA came out strong, but took a bit of time to organize as a team.  Loomis stepped to the ball ahead of us for awhile, but the girls adjusted.  By the time the horn blew at the half, three balls had found the back of the Loomis net.  Three more were scored during the second half.  The defense was lead by captain, Christina Halloran ’20 and many young players made some great contributions.  Alissa Zhang ‘22 stepped in to play some valuable minutes at midfield and Ainslie Hatch ’22 had some great offensive drives.  Maddy Zavalick ’22 was a backboard in the midfield.  Both goalkeepers get credit for the shut-out.  Next, Deerfield plays Westminster at home on Wednesday.
