In a stirring home meet on Wednesday, January 9th, the Boys Varsity Swim & Dive Team defeated Suffield with a final score of 102-78. It began with a thrilling 200 Medley Relay that was neck and neck when senior captain Shaun Kronenwetter dove in for the final freestyle leg. His impressive split sealed his relay’s victory and both relay teams set the tone for a dynamic meet full of resilient and determined races. Coming out of two weeks of rigorous training, including a week-long training trip in Florida at the end of winter break, the swimmers and divers showed their fortitude working through aches and pains to perform commendably. It was truly a team effort with each athlete meeting and often exceeding expectations to ensure Deerfield’s victory against Suffield for the first time in the seniors’ careers. Building on this positive momentum, the team will now quickly prepare for another important home meet on Saturday against Exeter at 4:30pm.
