This is the time of year when sickness and injury really play a role, and unfortunately Deerfield Hockey was not able to battle through adversity on Wednesday afternoon at Winchendon. Though we out-shot the hosts 47-18, we did not have our usual jump, and, to their credit, Winchendon took advantage of their opportunities. There were some bright spots for sure, but overall inconsistent pace and numerous penalties really hampered our efforts today. Mae Emerson ‘19 scored both Deerfield goals (two assists to Mary Edmonds ‘19 and one to Christina Halloran ‘20), and Jordan Manning made 15 saves in net. Emerson earned the hard hat, and our PK units were outstanding all afternoon long. A tough way to head into Long Winter Weekend, but hopefully we will return to campus rested and ready to tackle the final stretch of the season. Thank you to the Edmonds family and Mullowneys for coordinating pizza after the game, and to the Fujiyoshis and Hallorans for the fruit and drinks.
