The boys JV hockey team hit the road today to start their 2019 campaign facing the always tough Salisbury team. With just two days of practice following their near three week vacation the boys have been working hard to shake off the rust from their blades. This game was going to be close and we knew it going in.
The final score was 1-0 Salisbury. They would score the game winner with under 10 minutes left in the game. Goaltender Colin Olson played a great game turning back many good scoring opportunities throughout the game. Matt Gardner, Alex Strait, Henry Gustafson, Alex Weinman, and George Darling played in mid-season form and as a unit they were very effective at minimizing Salisbury’s potent offense.
We hit several posts, missed some golden opportunities, and never stopped creating chances when we controlled the puck deep in their zone. Today we learned more of what we need to be doing to reach our potential as a team. Our record is now 3-2 and we will get two more days of practice in before taking on NMH this Wednesday.
