The boys JV hockey team traveled to Wallingford to take on Choate. Earlier in the season playing at home we lost to this team 6-3 so we knew we were going to be tested today. Adding to this challenge was the fact we have many holes in the lineup due to illness and injuries. Today, everyone contributed and we played like a team on a mission. The result; a hard-fought 3-2 win!
Goalie Colin Olson was, once again, one of the keys to our success today. He came up with several key stops and was solid all game long. The defensive group of Alex Strait, Alex Weinman, George Darling, Sam MacKenzie, and Alex Judelson logged tons of ice time and kept the Choate offense at bay.
Will Dale continued his scoring spree with two goals today. He was a dominant force on the ice all game long creating multiple scoring chances while scoring the first goal and game winner. Alex Weinman scored the team’s second goal on a power play late in the game. His shot from the blue line found the back of the net while his teammates were doing a good job screening the Choate goalie.
The win moves the team record to 7-2. Ahead this week are two more games on the road. On Wednesday we’ll play Cushing varsity B, and on Saturday we travel to Hotchkiss. Both games will challenge us.
