In their first home game of the 2019 calendar year, Deerfield lost to a talented and tough Worcester Academy team. Deerfield played outstanding defense, particularly against Worcester’s 6’4” star forward, Aliyah Boston, in the first half, and went into halftime down by just 11 points. In the second half, Worcester came out in an aggressive trapping zone and were able to go on an 11-0 scoring streak, mostly on fast break points, to put the win away. Boston earned a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead Worcester. Deerfield was led by the excellent defensive play of Melissa Mitrovic, who also scored 9 points. Emma Reavis netted 12 points as well.
