The Big Green improved their record to 4-1 after an exciting win on the road at The Ethel Walker School. Deerfield took an early lead thanks to the hot shooting of Ella Mbanefo ‘22, finishing the half with a 10-4 lead. The Wildcats came alive after the half, taking advantage of the our flagging energy (we had no subs!) to press on defense and drive to the basket on offense. The combination of Elena Lu’s ‘22 composure with the ball, Ari Lewis-Pugh’s ‘22 relentless drives to the basket, and Jean Jin ‘22 and Fernanda Ponce’s ‘19 tenacious defense held them off for a 26-22 Deerfield victory. The team returns to play at home on Wednesday when they take on Bement.
